Dr. Potts is a licensed clinical psychologist with advanced training in forensic mental health evaluations. She completed her doctorate (Ph.D.) in clinical psychology from the University of Alabama with a focus in psychology and law. Prior to this, she earned two master's degrees in clinical psychology (one from the University of Alabama and another from the University of Denver) as well as a bachelor's degree from Sewanee: The University of the South.

After graduate school, Dr. Potts matched at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she completed two years of advanced training in forensic psychology. Upon licensure, she was hired on as faculty at Vanderbilt's School of Medicine, where she spent two years conducting forensic mental health evaluations for the courts in and around Nashville. In 2026, she entered independent practice as a forensic psychologist, focusing on conducting mental health evaluations for criminal courts.
